Bus Safety
Today we learned about bus safety. We practiced evacuating the bus, learned all the rules and the proper way to ride the bus.

A contraction is a word formed by joining two other words. An apostrophe shows where a letter or letters have been omitted. An example is don't.

An Idiom is a form of expression natural to a person, group or language.
Example: "Break a Leg" is a way of saying good luck without actually saying it.

Scientific Notation goes like this you have to have a number
less than 10 and more than 1 and multiply it by a power of 10.
Ex. 920,000 = in scientific notation 9.2 x 10 to the power of 5.

Contractions
Compound Words
A Compound Word is a word that is made up of two or more other words. The meaning of compound words is related to the meaning of the individual words it is made from.
Example: Quick+ Sand = Quicksand it means sand that moves quickly.
Spelling
In spelling on Monday we had a Pre Test and there were words that I couldn't spell because their was ei and ie but i didn't know what way it was supposed to go. Then i remembered a rhyme. "I BEFORE E EXCEPT AFTER C." Some of the spelling words work with that some don't like seize.

the right of it and if it is
larger than five you
round up but if it is less

Rounding
We rounded in math today. To round, you look at the number to the right of the place you are rounding to. If the number to the right is 5 or higher, you would round up. If the number is lower than 5, than you round down.
In English language Arts we are reading a book called HATCHET it is written by Gary Paulsen Hatchet is about a boy who survives a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness on his way to see his dad who works for an oil industry and on his way their his pilot had a heart attack and Brian flew the plane into a pond and escaped and so far that's all we know.
