In the 1840's to 1860's slavery was legal in the southern United States. The slaves masters were very cruel to the slaves. The slaves were beaten if they did not work. If the slaves tried to run away and the got caught, the master or the over watcher would beat them. Some of the slaves got their feet cut off, others got their ankles broken with a sleg hammer. The slaves did not have a very good life.

To determine who gets to serve first you throw the birdie up in the air and what ever side of the court it is facing that opponent gets to serve. On even numbers you serve cross court on the right, and on odd numbers you serve on the left side of the court.

Solving Equations

1) x + 5 = 9
4 + 5 = 9
There are many ways to figure out this equation. One way is to work backwards. 9 - 5 = 4 .

2) x - 2 = 9
11 - 2 = 9
To work backwards with this question, you go 9 + 2 = 11

3) 3x = 8.1
8.1 / 3 = 2.7
3(2.7) = 8.1

Solving equations

So here is an equation a+4=5. So one way to solve it is to take 5 and subtract it by 4 cause those are the numbers in the equation and you get 1. So that means a=1. Lets put that in the equation. Now its 1+4=5. Now that makes sense That is how i do it. Simple you may have a different way
