Equations
Yesterday in math class we had a math test it was on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. At the start of the unit i didn't really understand it but i eventually caught on after that it was pretty easy.

Solving equations by addition
So here is an equation n-6=8 Now we have to make the equation true but we have to show how we got the answer. So now that we know the equation you have to get the variable alone so you do this n-6+6=8+6. That is how the equation should look like because we have to get the variable alone so -6 plus +6 equals 0 and 8+6=14. So n=14 Here is another example
y-5=9
y-5+5=9+5
y=14
Now every equation has a different answer so that is how i know
y-5=9
y-5+5=9+5
y=14
Now every equation has a different answer so that is how i know

Solving equations
So here is an equation a+4=5. So one way to solve it is to take 5 and subtract it by 4 cause those are the numbers in the equation and you get 1. So that means a=1. Lets put that in the equation. Now its 1+4=5. Now that makes sense That is how i do it. Simple you may have a different way

Unit Rates
A unit rate is a rate with a one as the denominator. Here is an example 2:1 or 6:1 see the one is a denOminator

Unit Rates
A Unit rate is a rate in which the rate is expressed as a quantity of 1. example: if a car goes 60km a hour the unit rate is 60. Q&A: question:If Bobby bought 2.5 Kgs of rice for $7.5, then what is the unit price of rice?Answer: Here the denominator should be 2.5 Kg and numerator is the price $7.5. The unit price of rice would thus be 7.5/2.5 = 3 $/Kg.
Ratio
On friday we are having a test one ratios and rates. Ratio: A ratio compairs quantities and numbers. Example: there are 10 boys and 5 girls so the ratio is 10:5

RATE

A rate is a ratio that compares two quantities of different kind units. A unit rate is a rate with one in the denominator.
ex.
72 oranges
-------- = 72 oranges per box
1 box
Rates
Rates are two quantities being compared. Like lets say it was 50 miles per hour well we are comparing miles and hours. Here is an example 70miles/2 hours. That is not a unit rate a unit rate is a rate with one as the denominator. So this is it 60 miles per hour
Rate
In math we learned about rate:
-Rate is a ratio that compares two quantities of different units.
-Unit Rate is a rate in which the second term is 1.
Example: $1.25/5pounds = $0.25/1pound
-Rate is a ratio that compares two quantities of different units.
-Unit Rate is a rate in which the second term is 1.
Example: $1.25/5pounds = $0.25/1pound

Ratios

In the last couple of days in math we have been learning about ratios. Here is an example of a ratio there were 9 boys in the class to 7 girls in the class 9:7.

Equivalent Ratios
When you have equivalent ratios you just either multiply or divide each number by the same number. So if you have 2:3 it would be 4:6 or if you had 6:8 it would be 3:4 because I divided it by 2.

Percent to Decimals
To change a percent to a decimal you divide by 100, or just move the decimal 2 places to the left. See 76% divided by 100= 0.76

Ferguson Jenkins

Today in math we learned about Ferguson Jenkins he is in the hall of fame. When he was younger he played in the major leagues baseball for the cubs and other teams. He was a professional baseball player Ferguson got 334 votes to be in the hall of fame.

Changing decimals into percents
When you change a decimal into a fraction you multiply it by a hundred, because every percent is out of 100. Here is an example of changing a decimal to a percent 0.6 = 60% This is how I found out the answer, I took 0.6 and multiplied it by 100 and it told me the answer.
Turning decimals to percents

Well first you have to know that percents are out of 100. Now when you have a decimal like this 0.65 all you do is multiply it by 100 which would make it 65%.
