Absolute Zero

Absolute zero is when particles stop moving. The temperature for the absolute zero is -273.15

Nothing has ever gotten to that temperature before.

BIMETALIC STRIP.

A BIMETALLIC STRIP is two different metals that a fussed together. When heated one metal will expand faster than the other causing the strip to bend.these are found in thermostats.

Infared Thermogram

An infared thermogram is a camera that can take a picture of the heat given off an object. The temperatures are different colors. If there is red it's hotter, if it is blue it's colder.

Solutions

In science, we are learning about solutions. There are three types of solutions:
Saturated-can not dissolve any more into the solute
Unsaturated-can dissole more into the solute
Supersaturated-has to much dissolved into the solute

3 types of Solutions

Saturated- Cannot dissolve anymore into the solute
Unsaturated-More can be dissolved into the solute
Supersaturated-Has to much dissolved into the solute.

Crude Oil

In science we learned about crude oil which is useless in its natural state. Crude oil has to be be put into a process called fractional distillation which breaks up the crude oil in different substances like Gasoline, Kerosene, and Petrochemicals. These 3 things are used in are lives every day.

Chapter 4 mixtures and pure substances

Today we are having a test in science. This unit has been about mixtures and pure substances. Mixtures occur when particles are brought close together, they do not chemically bond together, the different particles can be separated there are two kinds of mixtures.
A pure substance is a thing that has only one type of particle . Pure substances can be divided into two parts.

Periodic Table

The periodic table shows all the 92 natural occurring elements.

Properties

Properties are characteristics of matter.
Like mass, weight, texture,odor,hardness

Hetrogenous

In science we learned what hetrogenous means. It means that you can see the particles in the mixtures. A example is chocolate chip cookies.

Homogeneous

Homogeneous is where every particle looks the same through out.
Example: Kool-aid. The particles that make up the mixture blend together in a pattern, and are mixed evenly throughout.

Mechanical Mixtures

Mechanical mixtures are mixtures you can see the pieces and bits that make up the mixture. Example- Italian Salad Dressing.

These are Heterogeneous. These particles are randomly mixed.

Heterogeneous are made up of parts you can see.
