Thermometer

In this weeks spelling unit there was a word called "Thermometer". The definition of thermometer is - " An instrument used to measure tempeture". Thermometer has 4 syllables.

The hockey card

I am doing my photo story on the hockey card. It is a book about hockey and when they were youg they would flip the hockey cards down and bet on them.

A BIMETALLIC STRIP is two different metals that a fussed together. When heated one metal will bend faster than the other.These are found in thermometers and thermostats. when its heated it will bend up ward when it is cooled it will bend down ward. They are really fun to watch.

Variables and Expressions

In math, you might see a problem that looks like this - 2m + n. The letters (m and n) are called variables. The whole problem is called an expression. To figure out this expression, you need to know what the letters represent. In this case, the m stands for 2 and the n stands for 3. Also, when you see two numbers, or variables, beside each other, that means you multiply them. Now you can figure out the expression.
1. 2m + n
2(2) + 3
4 +3 = 7

2. x = 2.4 y = 4.2
2(x) + y
2(2.4) + 4.2
4.8 + 4.2 = 9

An infared thermogram is a camera that can take a picture of the heat given off an object. The temperatures are different colors. If there is red it's hotter, if it is blue it's colder.
