    Grip the ball with your fingertips, using hardly any of your palm. Use either two or three fingers and your thumb to hold the ball, folding the others in toward your palm.
  • 3
    Turn your head toward your target.
  • 4
    Rotate your body sideways, extending your glove toward the target for balance.
  • 5
    Pull the ball back.
  • 6
    Throw - your arm goes up and out to your target, your wrist snapping just as the ball is released. Your thumb comes off the ball first, and then your fingertips do.

    Civil War - a stuggle between separate groups within the same country or society
    Conventional War - an open confrontation between two or more independent states using conventional weapons and battlefield to weaken or destroy the fighting ability of opposing armies.
    Unconventional War - objectives are not well defined. Tactics and weapons a\used are meant to intimidate opponent Civilians and non-military buildings are targeted to decrease morale.
    Guerilla Warfare - guerilla fighters take advantage of speed and knoledge of land to stage ambushes and raids to weaken larger armies
    Chemical Warfare - uses chemicals substances as weapons
    Biological Warfare - use of harmful bacteria or viruses as wearpons to cause death or injury to humans, animals, and plants.
    Nuclear Weapons - explosive devices that derive force from nuclear reactions. Two were used over Japan near the end of World War 2.

    Why is WW1 called the great war?

    It is called the great war because it was bigger than any war before it.

    Complementary Angles

    Complementary angles are angles that add up 90 degrees.
      Example: if one angle is 40 degrees the complementary angle would be 50 degrees.

    rocks

    one of the hardest rocks in Manitoba is granite lots of the granite in Manitoba is used for counter tops they polish them up and they look nice

    Land mines

    Land mines are used in the war to take down their opponents. Land mine victims cannot get the help they need because its expensive and they cannot work

    Complimentary Angles

    Coplimentary angles are angles that add up to 90 degrees. So if you had a 50 degree angle on a right angles than it would be complimentary and the complimentary angle would be 40 degrees. There is also supplementary angles which is angles that are on a straight line and add up to 180 degrees

    Character

    A person in a story, play, etc. The character in a movie

    Complimentary angles

    Complimentary angles are angles that equal to 90 degrees when combined.Ex 40 and 50 degrees.

    Ray

    A ray is a line that only has one endpoint. This line goes on forever in that one direction.

    sarahs key

    sarahs key is a book about ww2 in Paris. it is about a jewish girl and her family. they get taking to a jewish camp. because sdolf hitler didnt like any jewish people.
    This is a landmine with labeled parts. If it is stepped on it will explode.

    Health

    The last class in health we had to write a speech and we are going to have to tell the class our speech. Your speech had to be at least one minute long. My speech is on soccer. You had to tell the class everything you had to act like your the president.

    Right angle

    A right angle is always 90 degrees if it is less than it is acute angle.
    angles

    An angle is a line that looks like a v on its side.

    Kony 2012

    Tonight is cover the night!!! Invisible children is trying to cover every city with posters with Joeseph Kony's name on them to make him famous and stop his terrible acts. If you haven't watched Kony 2012 be prepared to hear the life changing story about what's happened to over 30,000 kids in Uganda. This must end!!!

    circumference

    in class we are learning about circumference to get circumference you multiply radius by two. to get diameter then you multiply diameter by pie to get the circumference.

    Waste heat, science

    In science we learned what waste heat is.
    Waste heat- all systems are not 100% effiecent. Some energy escapes as heat. A runner in a race will heat up. This is wasted energy.

    Senator

    Senator is a word from our spelling unit this week. It means a person who is in charge of a group or a member of the senate. Senator has 3 syllables sen-a-tor.

    Circumference

    To get the circumference, you multiply the diameter by pie.

    Conventional War

    A Conventional War is an open confrontation between two or more independent states using conventional weapons and battlefield to weaken or destroy the fighting ability of opposing armies.

    How to volley a volleyball

    Setting a volleyball is sorta easy and sorta hard. what you have to do is point your thumbs to your eyes and make a diamond then push up and and keep your hands close together. a good drill to practice this is by laying on the ground and getting a partner to throw the ball to you and you set the ball straight back up to your partner.

    Circumference

    To get the circumference of a circle you have to multiply the diameter by pie or 3.14. Then you have the circumference

    Points

    This week in math we learned about 5 common terms of geometery. One of them is called points. Points identify a position. They are represented by dots.

    underground to canada

    In the book underground to Canada there are four slave, Lester, Adam, Liza and Julilly have escaped from the Riley plantation and are an there way to Canada. Lester and Adam have been caught in Tennessee by the blood hounds and the slave hunters when the were out fishing.  Liza and Julilly now have a compass that the abolitionist gave to them at the barn in Tennessee. Now Liza and Julilly are headed to the Cumberland Mountains. when they get to the mountains the follow them they will take you to Lexington Kentucky. then they follow the railroad and it will lead you all the way to Canada and when they get there they will be free.
    today in class we are reading chapter 12 in underground to Canada Adam and Lester and Julilly and Liza where escaping to Canada and Adam and Lester get caught by the people that Sims sent to go go get them.

    novel

    in chapter 12 of underground to Canada Adam,Lester,Julilly,and Liza escape the Massa Rilies plantation and go to a barn and rest but they hear bloodhounds and Adam and Lester get caught but Julilly and Liza escape.

    Geometry

    Yesterday in math we started a new unit on geometry. Were learning about lines, rays, line segments, angles, and points right now.

    Line Segiment

    A line segiment is a part of a line with two endpoints. Example:

    Radius

    The radius is half a part of a square.  When you find the circumference you then take it times pie. Not the pie you eat. Pie equals 3.14.

    If the circumference was 7.4 is your radios.  You would multiply it by 2 to get the whole circumference.

    The star means multiply
    7.4 * 2 = 14.8
    C= B * D
    14.8 * 3.14
    C =43.96

    Transformations

    Energy never appears or vanishes. It changes form. Chemical energy, food comes from the sun. We use it for heating our bodies or moving our bodies. (Kinetic Energy)

    In Social study's class we are  reading a book called Sarah's Key. Sara locked her brother in a cupboard in his room when the police came. Sarah and her family, were sent to an Interment camp. She came back to save her brother and he was dead.
    In Ela I learned that the great barrier reef is the biggest reef in the world and is located in Australia
    and one of the biggest tourist attractions in the world

    Circumference

    To get circumference, you have to use a simple equation.
    Circumference = pi x diameter
    You also need to know what pi equals. Rounded, it equals 3.14. Now you just need to know the diameter. The diameter is the distance across a circle. It is usually measured in centimeters.
    C = 3.14 x 6cm
    Then you would multiply them and get the circumference of that circle.
    C = 18.84

    how to pitch a ball

    In softball you have to pitch in a windmill motion. what you have to do to do this is start with your right leg up step in bring your arm all the way around in a circular motion once then let go of the ball at your hip then follow through by bring your arm up to your chest. Then hope for a strike!

    Math

    Today in Math class we learned how to figure the circumference of a circle. The formula is
    3.14 x the diameter of a circle. ie.) 3.14 x 7.2 = 22.61.

    social studies

    In social studies Mrs. Chandler was reading to us a book about a Jewish girl and her family. Her 4 year old brother was in a secret room when two french police men showed up and took them.

    Underground to Canada

    In ela we are reading a book called underground to canada. Today our activity was to find the meaning of a word we didn't understand. One of the words i chose was: solemn
    Meaning: Grave and serious
    Synonym: Downbeat

    Thirteen Reasons Why

He would give the slaves tools like a knife, pistol, food, and water to survive the great treck to Canada. He went to the Deep South about 5 times and brought 31 slaves back to Canada each time.

    Circumference

    To get te circumference of a circle you just take the diameter ad multiply it by pie(3.14) then you get the circumference

    wasted heat

    All systems are not 100% efficient, some energy escapes as heat a runner in a race will heat up. This is wasted energy. A cars motor will get very hot when it is running.

    Solar Ovens

    In science we are building solar ovens. My solar oven is made out of a shoe box and tin foil. They are easy to make because all you have to do is cover hte top with tim foil and use seran wrap to hold the heat in.

    Solar ovens

    Im science class we are
    Aking solar power ovens they are
    Mase with shoe boxes and other stuff like tim foil and tape we are goi g to use them on monday

    Solar ovens

     In science we are starting to make solar ovens. You make a solar oven then we are cooking smores.  . You  bring the  stuff you need to make your oven. To start to make your oven you need a shoe box tin foil and seranrap. The tin foil is for the reflection of the heat to go into the box to cook the smores. You cut a medeam size hole at the top of the box. You dont want to cut it off.. You then take the tin foil and put it over the flap that is still on the box. tape it on. Then you take the seran wrap and put it over the hole in the box so the hot air doesnt escape. You dont want shiney paper in the bottem of the box because it will reflect the heat up again. You want dark paper so it can absobe the light and get warm and bake the bottem of the smore. It whould be a good idea if you put insolation in the botom of the box and cover it with tin foil. Hope You Have Luck Billding Yours. There rally fun :)

     Ones like we made

    Fancier ones.

    Cooking

    Today I made cookies for the class. They were Chocolate Whoopie amd were very sweet.

    solving equations

    this week in math we how to solve equations with additions.ex y+3=7 add -3 to both sides so the solution is that y=4.

    Solving Equations by Addition

    Solving equations is easy, but the hard part is showing your work.
    1. m + 12 = 22

    I know the answer is ten, but how did I get ten? First you add the opposite of what your adding. Since you have to be fair, you do that on both sides of the equation.
    1. m + 12 + (-12) = 22 + (-12)

    The negative twelve cancels out the positive twelve that you add, so the only part left is the answer.
    1. m = 22 + (-12)

    And we know that that equals ten.
    1. m= 10

    Here is another example.
    2. x - 12 = 22
    x - 12 + 12 = 22 + 12
    x = 22 + 12
    x = 34

    Underground To Canada

    Mulatto means that you have both black and white ancestory

    In E.L.A. we are reading a book called under ground in Canada.It is about slavery and the slaves have to pick cotton every day besides Sunday. Sunday is there day of work if you are working for the Henson family you get to play games and laugh and talk to any one the Henson plantation lets you do what ever you like on Sunday.

    Solar ovens

    Today in science we are starting to make solar ovens you have to make a solar oven and were making smores with them you can have a partner or just go by your self and my partner is mathew. You can bring some of your stuff you need to make your oven today for science to start to make your oven.

    novel

    in novel we are reading a book called underground to Canada. underground to Canada is about slaves that are wanting to go to Canada. if the slaves reach Canada they will be free of slavery.

    lower

    in Mexico you can go buy something the Mexican will tell you the price and you can say a lower price and you keep pricing and eventually you will get the item for a much lower price

    Absolte Zero

    The coldest temperature is -237.15 degrees Celsius. If it ever got to that temperature it would be impossible for any particles to be in motion at all.

    Solving equations by addition

    Today in math we learned how to solve equations by using addition. Here is an example
    X-3=5
    X-3+(-3)=5+3
    X=8

    How to overhand serve

    In volleyball you have to be able to serve overhand otherwise you dont get any points. first throw the ball up a little not to high otherwise you will miss the ball. then step into the ball with your arm back that BAM hit the ball as hard as you can and you should be able to get it over the net.

    Solving equations by addition

    So here is an equation n-6=8 Now we have to make the equation true but we have to show how we got the answer. So now that we know the equation you have to get the variable alone so you do this n-6+6=8+6. That is how the equation should look like because we have to get the variable alone so -6 plus +6 equals 0 and 8+6=14. So n=14 Here is another example
    y-5=9
    y-5+5=9+5
    y=14
    Now every equation has a different answer so that is how i know

    How to do a spike approach in Volleyball

    How to do a spike approach:
    -first you step on your left foot. Then jump on both feet. Bring up both arms. Swing left hand across body. and snap right hand wrist. Land on both feet.
